The goal of Project Tender To Nave Italia is to:
-Promote projects of recovery and support for disabled and disadvantaged people.
-Improve the quality of life for those in need.
-Further the professional development of social workers and educators in an atmosphere of harmonic collaboration with the existing welfare system.
Nave Italia is the preeminent tool for the Foundation to achieve their goals. The sea and life on board can be the perfect atmosphere to stimulate the balanced development of those in need. It is an ideal place to introduce new educational and learning experiences using “live action” as a catalyst for change. It is a place where guided exploration and the enrichment of life skills can create lifelong change in the course of a child’s life.
In the sea, one becomes aware of one’s strengths and one’s limits. From this foundational premise, the Nave Italia stands as a lighthouse – a beacon of light sending out a message of hope. It offers the opportunity for disadvantaged people to connect more fully into society and to find strength and identity within their community. This project also stands as an anchor to those whose lives may be in chaos; a shelter where people can rest, learn and heal under the careful guidance of our team. It is a place where we join hands with the weak and accompany them back to the wholeness of an integrated life.
The foundation’s vision is to operate in two key areas:
-The realization of support projects toward disadvantaged people
-The formation and training of humanitarian workers
Regarding the first area, our action points are to:
1. Decrease the academic drop-out rate for children
2. Create projects for the support of abandoned babies
3. Establish educational activities for juvenile delinquents
4. Help physically and mentally disabled individuals to become autonomous and to find their place in society.
5. Initiate experimental projects for cultural integration
6. Provide support activities for people and families struggling with long-term illnesses
7. Promote initiatives and projects for the elderly
Regarding the second area, our action points are:
Using the naval experience as an experimental training place for university students studying innovative methods of social work and non-profit management
Provide continuing education courses which are accredited and professionally recognized for social and health workers, demonstrating the educational benefits of the Foundation’s marine resources.
